What does it cost?

Costs for Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric  Banding  as at 1/9/2011

Privately  Insured Patients.

Patients who have Top Hospital Cover Private Insurance cover and are covered for Item No. 30511 are covered for :

• Out of Pocket Cost for Physician Appointments
• Out of Pocket Cost for  Dietitian Appointments
• 2 Weeks of Optifast prior to your surgery.
• All Consultations &  lapband adjustments are bulk billed with no Out of Pocket cost to Patient
• Post-Operative appointments included.
• Ongoing support Pre & Post –Operatively.

An Initial Consultation of $150 with the Surgeon paid on the day.  Balance of $450 if patient decides to go ahead with surgery prior to work up Appointments.

The Out of Pocket cost is $4,500 to Complete Weight Loss Surgery.

The anaesthetist cost is NOT included in the above fees and will be approximately $600 out of pocket payable to the Anaethetist separately.

Self Funded Patients

The cost includes:

• Out of Pocket Cost  for Physician Appointments
• Out of Pocket Cost for Dietitian Appointments
• 2 Weeks of Optifast prior to your surgery.
• All Consultations &  lapband adjustments are bulk billed with no Out of Pocket cost to Patient
• Post-Operative appointments included.
• Ongoing Support Pre- & Post –Operatively.
• Out of Pocket cost for Anesthetist.

The out of pocket cost to patients who have no insurance is approximately $14,000.  (This
is an estimate only,  an official quote will be obtained from the Hospital of surgery.)
This cost is after the patient has claimed the operation & anaesthetist cost from Medicare.
